When Laurent emerged from his bath, feeling much restored by the warmth of
the water and the time to think, he found his lair empty.
Pacing through the rooms in search of Gansey, he found him missing, gone.
He'd heard neither declaration, having been too far for the first one and
the second having been drowned out by the sound of the water filling the
basin.
Alarmed and heartbroken, Laurent searched the place repeatedly, finding
nothing, not even in the traps. After an hour, he was distraught, and
curled up in the library to sob with loneliness and betrayal. He'd refused
to show his face and Gansey had gone. For whatever reason, whether to fetch
a mob, to sell him for the bounty, or merely to give up on his company. He
was gone.
