"Okay," Adam said, quiet and unhappy as he watched Alec go. He didn't know what to think or how to feel. Izzy had been efficient and attentive, and had seemed to encourage him, but her encouragement had been little more than teasing, and so Adam didn't think he could trust in it.
He went back to his room, starting to read the book Alec had given him and trying not too think about Alec.

"Hey," Izzy said, when her brother re-appeared. She sat up, glad he was back and worried for him. "Good, I think they're dry enough to do the top coat."
Holding out her hands to him, Izzy watched him closely. "What the fuck was that about me and Adam wanting some privacy?"
