"It's important," Adam agreed. "I've sacrificed a lot for it." And he knew that they both had a thorough understanding of what sacrifice meant and that Adam did not use the word casually. "You're important, too."

Adam let go of Alec's phone hand to let him finally put it away, and slid that arm around Alec's waist, resting his head against Alec's shoulder for a couple of seconds, glad that they were cooperating with each other for the time being.

His stomach grumbled loudly to interrupt the moment and Adam huffed out a laugh, stepping back but keeping hold of Alec's hand as he turned toward the food court. "I don't know anything about a healthy relationship, either. I had a girlfriend for a couple months. We fought all the time and didn't even kiss."
