"My friend is seeking King Glendower," Adam said, careful and wary. He didn't like giving this much information, but it seemed reasonably certain that the boy in front of him was a guardian, not an antagonist. "We had hoped that waking the ley line would help lead the way to him, but there were others trying to wake the ley line for their own power. One of those others murdered a friend of mine, and came very close to killing all of us. We had been told that the ley line would wake, and there wasn't much time."

Adam kept his eyes down, shoulders hunched defensively, still aching with the rejection of not being wanted here. "I sacrificed myself to live for the ley line so that no one else would die for it."
