"Does it snow?" Adam asked, wandering a little further, to the edges of the garden. He asked a few more questions about the plants, but gardening had never been central to his interests, and his interest quickly drifted back to the rest of the temple. "I have a little more time today. Can I see more of the temple?"

It hadn't escaped him how Alec had only shown him the library last time, despite the discussion of a tour. Adam didn't know why that had happened, or what he'd done wrong to displease the guardian. Alec's approach to what Adam was allowed seemed very much at odds with what Alec was willing to show him.
