Adam was puzzled by how much his words flustered Alec. What seemed self-evident to him had completely undone the guardian, and he realized that Alec didn't know or didn't believe that he was exquisitely attractive. Adam didn't know how to prove it to him, and it didn't really matter whether or not Alec believed him.
