"Twenty-three." He knew that most Mundanes would find it strange that he hadn't dated before even if he was in the closet. It was strange even by Shadowhunter standards, but it hadn't seemed as important as trying to prove he could be Head of the Institute. Now, his perceptions of what was important were changing.

Alec knew that Adam would be bothered by letting him pay for lunch, but wasn't sure how to help make it easier without calling the meal a date. "You can pay next time we get food?" he suggested, wondering if that would work. By tomorrow Adam wouldn't have to worry about expenses. He'd be making more than Alec did even when he was Head of the Institute.

"Some of them might come up later." It wasn't something that he'd really thought of, but he knew that if he said certain things about their argument, they'd start fighting again. "If we get food, we share it." It was probably a stupid thing to get hung up on when he let his siblings steal from his plate whenever they wanted. Most of the time he gave them some of the best items he ordered, but that seemed different than what Adam had suggested. "Usually there isn't anything left over. I can't go home hungry or Izzy will try to feed me."
