Had Alec taken a few extra steps when he'd went from 'I think I like guys' to 'I'm gay'? It felt like it since he hadn't jumped right into the type of research Adam had covered or even figuring out what he liked. Maybe if he'd had the same type of motivation Adam had he would have been more thorough on those topics.
